On April 11th 2017, I was certified Mad for Flare. MadCap Flare is an XHTML-based authoring tool created by MadCap Software, an American computer software firm with its headquarters in San Diego, California.
For my role at Sitecore, I used HTML, XHTML and CSS to style course materials and publish them for ILT and eLearning.
The certification process:
Step 1: Prepare for the Test
i) Take a Class
ii) Explore MadCap Resources
iii) Take a Practice Test
Step 2: Register for the Test
A purchase a key is required to access the certification test. The test costs $149 and can be purchased through the MadCap Store.
Step 3: Take the Certification Test
The MAD Certification test is an online test comprised of 50 questions, with an allotted test time of 75 minutes. Unanswered questions are counted as incorrect. In order to pass the test, you need a passing score of 70% or above.
Step 4: Create a Sample Project
After completing the test, the results are emailed. If you earn a passing score, the stage is to complete a sample project, which becomes the property of MadCap Software.
The sample project needed to contain at least the following:
- 12 topics
- 6 links
- 3 images
- a skin
- a page layout
- a master page
- 2 condition tags
- 2 different output types
